The education and job story

It began with music.  8 years ago I came as a freshman to Central Michigan University to study percussion.  I spent many a summer before that at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.  Naturally, I found I found a job the summer after my freshman year in (can you guess?) the camp's music library.  When I came back to school in the fall I was able to take a position in the music library at the university, where I worked until I graduated.  I loved the environment of working in libraries, and, having simply a B.S. in music, decided I should seek another degree to aid in the sucess of finding employment in a field I can enjoy (and not merely tolerate!)

After I graduated, I worked as a pharmacy technician for 3 years.  I quit to take a job as a page at my local public library, where I am 'in charge' of sorting the library recycling. (the various ephemera that gets thrown away can be quite fascinating!)  I have been there for one year (as of last week) and still enjoy it - this is a good sign!

I would like to progress in my career beyond sorting the recyling, hopefully doing something involving technical services.  Databases and how we interface with them fascinates me - as well as cataloging non-print material such as recorded music.
